Artist statement

To create is to take a step aside, to look at the world and to depict it as we see it. Live performance is about bringing together a piece of humanity to show it the great theatre of the world, to hold up a mirror so that we can discuss the human condition in its current state. It is to propose to people to ask themselves questions by delighting them with emotion. To create is to have something to say today and now (urgency of purpose) while being sufficiently relevant so that the purpose does not wear out in a moment. Our shows are thought of as a repertory project, which can last and is not disposable after one year of operation.

The themes that emerge from the shows (ecology, regionalism, equality between men and women) make them European objects that can be included in international projects (Chouftouhouna, Magdalena project), particularly on the place of women in Mediterranean society.Today, it is up to the artistic act to grasp the reality of the struggles waged by the population. Because it retains, through dreams, poetry and dreamlike images, this capacity to address the greatest number of people. The weight of words, the shock of images, the word carried, will remain powerful megaphones to share a fight, values.

Militant in the defence of artistic acts linked to the realities of our society and its major societal struggles: sustainable development, equality between men and women, Europe of the regions, social and solidarity economy inscribed in the territory but always linked to the international level, etc., Rêves du 22 mars wishes to carry an artistic word, vector of the words of the poets, as proof of the universal humanisms of our time.

This is how the company’s path is made. Thus is built around a dream an artistic reality that is not the sole voice of one, but the liberating canvas of a plurality of voices, words, cries, calls and dreams. A will to mesh know-how, qualifications, views and humanities moving in this same will: to dream. Around the shows but also to share its love of words and theatre, Rêves du 22 mars proposes cultural mediation times, thought out, personalised, refined according to the territory and its inhabitants.
