After Snježana Premuš finished the studies in London (BA and MA degree), her choreographic and dance work was marked by a fundamental choreographic-dance question about the body. With a series of performances Amplified Body and Stories of the Body, she began to build a stock of possible approaches to ways to turn the body outward to make the issue of its physicality visible and accessible to the viewer. The performance MoveAs received the Prize of public on Biennale of contemporary dance Gibanica Ljubljana in 2009.
“Since 2012, I have been conducting an international research platform entitled Physical Manifestations. Through a series of laboratories and workshops, members of the dance community (choreographers, dancers, theorists, dramaturges) we met with colleagues from other fields of human sciences, architecture, martial arts and different audencies in order to open up the process of experiencing, articulating and documenting the notion of different bodies – selves.
Through moving, observing movement and articulating and documenting that movement, the diverse participants used various methodologies and inputs native to their disciplines and fields of expertise to expand understanding of the ways we perceive the body and how we speak about the body/body image. Through our individual experiences of movement in an often unfinished, undeveloped, raw and vulnerable form, we produced an original web of inner introspection, of “imperceptible experiences” and articulated these experiences back into the linguistic and stage reality.”
