Tilen Kozamelj

Artist statement

Tilen Kožamelj (Ljubljana, 1987) is a theatre actor. In 2009 he was admitted to the Prague Theatre Academy (Divadelni akademie muzickych uměni) – departement of alternative theatre and puppetry, where he graduated in 2014.

In 2015, he attended a theatre school in Nafplio, Greece (Neo Panepistimiom Peleponnisou), where he perfected and deepened his acting skills. In many Prague theatres (La Fabrika, NOD, Na Zabradli and Disk Theater) he has performed in classical performances such as Romeo and Juliet and The Suffering of Young Werther, while also focusing on an alternative branch of theater, where he has created several productions in the field of physical theater, experimental theater, dance theatre and puppets.

From 2015 to 2018, he was employed at the Maribor Puppet Theater, where he mixed in several successful performances for adults and children (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, What if). He is currently regularly working with the Rijeka Puppet Theater in Croatia (Rijeka City Puppet Theater). In general, Tilen Kožamelj is a promising young actor of a very wide range, with rich acting experience in the field of puppet and alternative theater, and with special services for improvisation and for a fresh, witty, and resourceful approach to theater art. There are also several film productions, some of Czech, some of Montenegrin but mainly of Slovene production.

Otherwise, as an artist I work in tandem with Tea Melin (Thea Melin). She is a visual artist that works in the field of scenography, photography, and interior design. She takes care of visual aspect of the performances and on dramaturgy.
